Well packaged and delivered when they said it would be
First class service
Will be ordering again from them for sure
Unfortunately, although it was posted on time for 24 hour delivery the Royal Mail did not deliver it for 2 days. Disappointing, but I guess sending it by courier would have cost more.
Really satisfied.
I needed some small rectangular aluminium sheets made up to use as Tiller Hoods to fix the tiller to the rudder for a Mirror Dinghy! The 1mm thick 200mm x 100mm sheets were just £1.07 each excluding vat and as the postage was 3x that amount I decided to order 10 for future projects! 1st Choice Metals provided a superb very cost effective service and cut the sheets with quick delivery.
I am truly delighted with them.
Industrial Copper Metal: Properties, Alloys and Applications
Copper is one of the most widely used metals in industry, valued for its versatility, strength, and excellent conductivity. At 1st Choice Metals, we supply high-quality industrial copper metal, including copper round bar, for a range of applications from electrical engineering to precision manufacturing. Whether you need pure copper or copper alloys, we can cut, shape, and supply the right product for your project.
Why Copper Is an Essential Industrial Material
Copper is a key material across many sectors thanks to its exceptional combination of strength, ductility, corrosion resistance, and thermal and electrical conductivity. These unique properties make it a foundation metal in modern engineering, electrical systems, and architecture.
The structure and properties of copper and its alloys allow it to be easily formed, machined, and joined. This makes copper highly adaptable to industrial fabrication and finishing processes, supporting everything from large-scale electrical networks to precision-engineered components.
Copper Alloys – Properties and Applications
Copper rarely works alone. Alloying copper with other elements like zinc, tin, or nickel can significantly enhance its strength, durability, and wear resistance. These copper alloys each bring distinct performance benefits for specific industrial applications.
Common Copper Alloys
- Brass (Copper and Zinc): Known for its machinability, corrosion resistance, and bright finish, brass is widely used in plumbing, electrical fittings, and decorative applications.
 - Bronze (Copper and Tin): Renowned for its hardness and resistance to fatigue, bronze is a popular choice for bearings, bushings, and marine components.
 - Cupro-nickel (Copper and Nickel): Offers superior corrosion resistance, particularly in seawater environments, making it ideal for shipbuilding and heat exchangers.

Each alloy is designed to provide improved mechanical properties while maintaining copper’s natural advantages, such as thermal and electrical conductivity.
Common Industrial Applications of Copper
The applications of copper in industry are vast and varied. Its conductivity, malleability, and resilience make it indispensable in modern engineering.
Electrical and Electronic Applications: Copper is the metal of choice for wiring, electrical contacts, and circuit boards due to its excellent conductivity. It plays a critical role in power generation, transmission, and renewable energy systems.
Plumbing and Construction: Copper’s corrosion resistance and antimicrobial properties make it ideal for pipework, roofing, and architectural detailing.
Engineering and Manufacturing: In mechanical and automotive engineering, copper and its alloys are used in bearings, heat exchangers, and precision components. Pure copper is often used where maximum conductivity is required, while alloys are preferred for structural strength or resistance to wear.
Finishing and Fabrication of Copper
Copper can be easily shaped, machined, and polished to meet industrial standards. At 1st Choice Metals, we provide precision cutting services tailored to your requirements. Our free cutting service ensures your copper materials are delivered to exact measurements, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
Various finishing methods can enhance copper’s appearance and performance. Polishing, lacquering, and coating protect the surface while maintaining copper’s signature aesthetic and corrosion resistance.
